About Makeup Niranjana

Bridal makeup in Chennai is not one job — it is many. A Muhurtham bride at 5 AM in a temple courtyard needs different products, different techniques, and a different artist mindset than a Reception bride at 8 PM under stadium-grade LED lighting. A Tamil Christian bride at a Mylapore church wants what a Muslim bride at a Nungambakkam Nikkah does not. Most bridal makeup artists try to be everything to everyone. Niranjana built her practice on the opposite principle: deep specialisation in South Indian bridal looks (Tamil, Telugu, Kannadiga, Iyengar, Brahmin traditions), Christian church weddings, and Muslim Nikkah + Walima — and nothing else.

The studio in Pallavaram opened in 2014 after Niranjana trained under master artists in Chennai, Mumbai, and Bangkok. The first three years were 100% Muhurtham brides — that's where the signature monsoon-proof, 12-hour-wear technique was developed, tested on hundreds of brides during Chennai's humid October–January wedding season. The HD foundation system, the warm-tone eye approach for South Indian skin, the jadai-billai placement methodology — all of it came from doing the same wedding type repeatedly until every variable was solved.

Today the studio handles roughly 80–100 brides per Chennai wedding season (October–March, plus the smaller May–July peak) across HD, Airbrush, Traditional, Christian, Muslim, and academy training. Niranjana personally does every bridal client; the senior team of 3 assists with hair, draping, and family-member makeup. No outsourcing, no junior artists pretending to be Niranjana — every bride who books gets the founder on her wedding morning.

Bridal makeup is only as durable as the products underneath. Every product in the Niranjana kit is chosen for two things: how it performs on Indian skin tones, and how it survives 8–12 hours in Chennai conditions. The base layer is MAC Pro Longwear or Studio Fix Fluid (skin-matched across 20+ shades). The eye palettes are Charlotte Tilbury "The Bigger Brighter Eyes" for warm terracotta-gold stories and Huda Beauty Naughty Nudes for soft Christian/Muslim aesthetic. Lipsticks are NARS Audacious and Estée Lauder Pure Color for the lasting bridal pinks and maroons.
